Chess Trainer

One board. Four connected workflows.

Play, navigate, analyze and train your chess openings.

Chess Trainer keeps the board at the center while you move naturally between playing games, studying real opening statistics, running Stockfish analysis, building repertoires and training prepared positions.

Runs in the browser and can be installed as a web app on supported devices.

What you can do

A complete chess-opening workflow without changing tools.

Play

Play human-vs-human, human-vs-engine or engine-vs-engine games with configurable Stockfish depth and chess clocks.

Navigate

Move through opening positions using Lichess Opening Explorer statistics, saved positions and repertoire sources.

Analyze

Run Stockfish locally in your browser, inspect candidate lines and turn a position or chosen move into a readable explanation.

Build practical repertoires

Compare real-game opening results corrected for rating differences. Use Stockfish as a separate safety check, then build and practice lines suited to your target playing level.

Train

Practice prepared positions from your repertoires and focus on the positions that are actually yours to remember.

Save your work

Keep useful positions, comments, repertoire state and training progress together with the board that produced them.

How it works

The board stays put. The task changes around it.

Move between Play, Navigate, Analyze and Train without rebuilding the position in a different tool. On larger screens, Navigate and Analyze can work side by side. On smaller screens, the layout adapts to the available browser size while keeping the board usable.

  1. 1
    Choose or reach a position.

Play into it, navigate move history, load a repertoire position or set the board manually.

  2. 2
    Inspect the evidence.

Use real-game statistics and engine analysis to understand practical and objective choices.

  3. 3
    Keep what matters.

Save the position or add it to an opening repertoire without losing the analysis context.

  4. 4
    Train it.

Turn prepared repertoire positions into repeatable practice instead of rereading static notes.

Use it anywhere

Built for resizable browsers, tablets and phones.

The workspace responds to the real width and height available to it. On desktop you can resize panes; on mobile the app chooses a compact layout that keeps the complete board accessible.
